Helena Deal is Vice President of Global Human Resources Operations for Hess Corporation, a global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.
Deal has more than 25 years of global experience in organization dynamics, driving culture change, and the sourcing, onboarding and management of talent. She has served as a strategic advisor, generalist and specialist with assignments in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In a role she has held since 2013, Deal is responsible for leading a team of Human Resources (HR) professionals that provides generalist support in more than a dozen countries to two business units – Exploration and Production – and a number of functional groups, such as Finance; General Counsel; Technology and Services; Environment, Health and Safety; Global Supply Chain; and Information Technology.
Since joining Hess in 2000, Deal has held a range of leadership roles within the HR function, including Leader, Global E&P Reorganization Project; Director, HR, Global Production; Senior Manager, HR – Asia Pacific; and Manager, HR – International.
Earlier in her career, Deal was HR Advisor for Koa Oil Company Limited Japan; HR Specialist at Star Petroleum Refining Company – Thailand; Compensation Specialist at Texas-based Caltex Petroleum Corporation; Personnel Assistant for Olsten Staffing Services; Research Consultant for Russell Reynolds Associates – Australia; and Personnel Assistant for Avon County Counsel in the UK.
Deal holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from the London School of Economics at the University of London.
